About Han dynasty
- Han dynasty was similar to the Zhou era
- Average - 5 people per house, but noble families lived as Joint families in large compounds.
- Women showed a lot of respect towards men.
- Most of the Chinese people worked in the countryside cultivating vegetables and grain.
- They needed iron equipment to farm, which is why iron industry was a big part of the economy.
- Silk was also a big part of the economy since Chinese silk was especially fine because of the advanced techniques
- Paper was invented
- Population was growing really fast

Social Tensions
Land Distribution
Individual economic problems caused by poor harvests, high taxes and debt caused people to become tenant farmers, sell their property under unfavorable conditions, and also sell themselves and their families into slavery. This favored the landlords who owned most of the land by the end of the century.

The powerful Han minister served as a regent of a 2 year old boy in 6 B.C.E. who inherited the throne.
He is referred as the "socialist emperor". He limited the amount of land a person could have and ordered to redistribute land so that landless individuals could use it. Confusion was caused because of the inadequate communication and preparation. Neither the landlords or the peasants liked it. After several years, in 23 C.E., peasants and landlords ended his dynasty and life |

Within 2 years the Han dynasty was restored, but it was much weaker.
By the end of 3rd century, Han dynasty was brought to an end.
